Funding principles

Shared infrastructure should be sustained by the ecosystem it serves.

Funding the Public Commons — Seamless Connect

Seamless Connect is shared infrastructure, and our funding model should reflect that.

Participation and interoperability are not pay-to-play. Organizations do not need to sponsor Seamless Connect to implement its standards, contribute to the project, or interoperate with other participants.

We expect different members of the ecosystem to contribute in different ways. Registrars, DNS providers, application platforms, agentic platforms, and other infrastructure operators can contribute by implementing open integrations, contributing engineering work, participating in interoperability efforts, or financially supporting the shared infrastructure they benefit from.

The project is sustained through a mix of sponsorships, grants, donations, and other mission-aligned funding. Larger organizations that materially benefit from reduced integration and operational costs are encouraged to help fund the common infrastructure so that it remains broadly available.

Where appropriate, Seamless Connect may also offer optional paid operational services—such as dedicated infrastructure, service-level commitments, support, or other enterprise conveniences. We haven't figured out what these are yet, but we are willing to figure out a good model with you. These services will not be required for basic interoperability or technical participation.

Our goal is simple: make interoperability easy and widely available, while asking the organizations that benefit from the commons to help sustain it voluntarily.

Sustain the common layer

Help keep interoperability open and broadly available.

Support the shared infrastructure financially, contribute engineering, or participate in interoperability efforts.
