Seamless is building open, neutral infrastructure for connecting domains across DNS providers, registrars, and service platforms.
Our initial focus is operationalizing Domain Connect—now advancing through the IETF DCONN Working Group—as broadly usable infrastructure: a neutral hosted service, open APIs and SDKs, provider integrations, automated DNS and DNSSEC configuration, and shared testing and conformance tooling.
For DNS providers and registrars, the goal is straightforward: replace repeated proprietary integrations with reliable shared infrastructure that becomes inexpensive to operate at scale.
A Phased Funding Model
Seamless is designed to become economically self-sustaining rather than permanently dependent on sponsorship.
Phase 1 — Build & Adoption · Years 1–2
Sponsorships and grants fund the initial buildout:
- Production infrastructure and hosted service
- DNS provider and registrar integrations
- DNS and DNSSEC automation
- APIs, SDKs, CLI, and developer tooling
- Testing and conformance infrastructure
- Standards, security, and interoperability work
- Ecosystem adoption and service-provider integrations
Sponsors are effectively front-loading the cost of infrastructure the ecosystem can then share for years to come.
Phase 2 — Sustainable Utility · Year 3+
As usage scales, Seamless transitions toward a mixed funding model built primarily around usage-based revenue priced to recover the cost of operating the service.
Sponsorships and grants remain available, but increasingly fund roadmap acceleration, new capabilities, integrations, research, and ecosystem adoption rather than basic operations.
The objective is a durable public utility: reliable, performant, and economical core internet infrastructure without the margins or lock-in of a proprietary intermediary.
Why Sponsor Now?
DNS providers and registrars already bear the cost of fragmentation: proprietary integrations, support burden, inconsistent implementations, duplicated engineering, and service providers implementing the same workflows differently across the ecosystem.
Seamless creates an opportunity to pool some of that investment.
Sponsor during the buildout → help establish the common infrastructure → benefit from lower-cost shared infrastructure over the long term.
Early sponsors also accelerate the integrations and capabilities most important to making the network useful.
Sponsorship does not buy technical approval, preferential interoperability, listing, or control. Technical participation remains open regardless of financial support.

Two-year commitments are encouraged, reflecting the initial buildout period.
What Success Looks Like
The end state is not another commercial DNS platform.
It is shared infrastructure operated for the benefit of the ecosystem:
Open standards → shared implementation → broad adoption → usage at scale → cost-based operation
Sponsors provide the initial capital needed to reach that point. Once established, the infrastructure should reduce rather than create another permanent cost center for the companies that depend on it.
Future sponsorship and grant funding can then be directed toward making the utility better and expanding what it can do—not keeping the lights on.
